Getting started is easy, see the steps outlined below:
  1. Choose ONIX or Excel for your data submission
  2. Submit your cover images
  3. Over time you may increase the amount of data you send to Bowker, we suggest focusing on Enhanced Content
Should you already have an ONIX or Excel file you are sending to others in the supply chain, start with e-mailing us that file. We will see if we can work with what you have in order to save you time and money.

Each new data feed will be reviewed for quality and put through our testing process. Together with you, we will ensure that it meets industry specifications and allows for any unique information you may have above these standards. You will be assigned an account manager to work with you through this process. The result is clean data within Bowker’s database and, in turn, any customer databases.

To submit your first data file, please e-mail data.submission@bowker.com or datasubmission@bowker.co.uk

Upgrading Your Data

If you are already a data provider to Bowker, we are interested in working with you on our other free initiatives. You can find information specific to educational and academic publishers, eBook data and our full content indexing program on this website.

Program Benefits

Bowker licenses and creates content to add to the metadata you supply for your titles including:
  • Full Text Reviews
  • Review citations
  • Author Biographies
  • Bestseller lists
  • Media mentions
  • Awards
  • Keywords with contexts
This increases the visibility of your titles to our customer base and offers our customers the opportunity to read more about your products. Because we also index the content we create and license, your title is more likely to be found when customers search.
  • Barnes & Noble
  • Follett College Stores
  • Chapters/Indigo
  • Abebooks.com
  • Hastings
  • Sony
In addition your title metadata is automatically added to all of our web based products, which we sell direct to libraries, retailers, and schools. These web based products are also sold through retail point of sale and library catalog system software vendors.

Our product users--a dedicated audience of book buyers and readers--effectively extend your marketing reach, while you pay nothing to submit your data to Bowker.
